Allen has extensive experience in many aspects of intellectual property law. He focuses on licensing, patentability and invalidity studies, as well as infringement studies. He also has an extensive trademark practice. A former Chief Patent Counsel of Chemetron Corporation, Senior Patent Attorney of Sunbeam Corporation and Patent Counsel of Signode Corporation, he can easily understand IP matters from the client side of the table.
For more than forty years, Allen has cultivated a network of trusted patent and trademark associates in many countries which he can readily call upon for his clients’ global needs.
Allen cites intellectual curiosity as the force that originally attracted him to law and the interplay of engineering and law that brought him to intellectual property law. He and his wife, married for nearly 40 years, own a log cabin in Berrien County, Michigan, which they use and enjoy throughout the year.
